What is your favorite memory, story, experience, etc. while at the University Fire Department?
I have many fond memories from my time at UFD. I worked with and for great people during my time there. I will always be indebted to UFD for the training and experience I received during my employment.
Brief History/Biography: I was born and raised in Juneau, Alaska. I grew up around the fire service with my Dad being on the job for 30 years, as well as my grandfather a retired fire chief. I joined Capital City Fire/Rescue as a fire cadet at the age of 16. After graduating high school I was hired by UFD, where I worked for a little over 2 years and obtained an associate degree. After UFD, I was hired at Steese Fire Dept, were I worked for approximately 5 years as a shift captain and the department training officer. I now work as a Fire Lieutenant at the Fort Wainwright Fire Dept and a volunteer Battalion Chief at the North Star Volunteer Fire Department. My wife is employed at the North Pole Fire Department as an Engineer. We have an 8 month old son (Logan), and two pups and we live in North Pole.
