Ean Zeller

UAF - BA Criminal Justice; AAS Emergency Services

Stacy Catherine Zeller (Wife)

Current Occupation:

Firefighter/ Paramedic, Durango Fire and Rescue Authority, Durango Colorado

How many years were you with the University of Alaska Fire Department?

What is your favorite memory, story, experience, etc. while at the University Fire Department?

My favorite experience was actually when I was getting ready to leave UFD.  There were still a lot of very young members that did not have a lot of experience with UFD at that time.  When I decided to leave I realized that they were very capable of moving up the ranks and taking positions of leadership.  However, I realized that until that time I had failed them by not doing all that I could to help them prepare for these positions.  I found myself working harder than ever to pass along as much information and guidance as I could.  The last month that I was employed at UFD was the one time that I felt I had contributed the most to UFD in my tenure.

Brief History/Biography:

Joined UFD on 10-10-2000 coming to UAF from Las Vegas, Nevada.  Graduated with BA in Criminal Justice and AAS in Emergency Services.  Left UFD as an Acting Engineer accepting employment with Fairbanks Airport Police and Fire.  After a year and a half I moved back to Las Vegas, Nevada.  I worked for Medicwest Ambulance for 3 years until I was hired by Bullhead City Fire Department, Bullhead City, Arizona.  In 2013 I accepted employment as a Firefighter/ Paramedic with the Durango Fire and Rescue Authority in Durango, Colorado.
